Bridges from Bow House Dental, Tring, Hertfordshire

At Bow House, we use cutting-edge technology to craft bridges that are carefully colour-matched to your other teeth to give a perfectly natural finish. We also offer a range of bridges made from different materials to suit our patients’ budgets.

What is a Bridge?

A fixed dental bridge is an ideal way to remedy minor gaps or replace a few missing teeth. Bridges are made of a precious metal, to which tooth-coloured porcelain is bonded if the bridge will be visible when you smile.

Confidence comes from within, but can be nurtured and developed through taking care of your appearance. A missing tooth or gaps between your teeth might make you feel unattractive, or self-conscious; it may also affect your speech or how you eat, possibly to the extent that you no longer feel comfortable dining in public or talking to new people. Gaps can also harbour harmful bacteria that may be difficult to reach when brushing your teeth, leading to decay and cavities.

Is a bridge right for me?

Perhaps you have now decided that correcting these irregularities in your smile is something that you need or desire, in which case you can rely on Bow House dental professionals to support you in any way we can. Our highly experienced, skilled dentists are here to advise you on how a simple bridge could revitalise your smile.

If a bridge is the most appropriate form of treatment for you, it will be fitted over the course of two appointments.

  • At the first, your mouth will be examined to ensure that your surrounding teeth are strong enough to support a bridge and, if so, then your dentist will take a mould of your teeth.
  • This mould will be used to craft a custom-made bridge that will fit perfectly.
  • You may be fitted with a temporary crown if necessary, whilst your permanent bridge is created.
  • At your second appointment, your new bridge will be permanently bonded to your teeth, creating a new smile that is not only aesthetically pleasing but is also strong and healthy.

Your bridge will become an integral part of your smile immediately and you will need to care for it in just the same way as you care for your natural teeth. With good oral hygiene practices you can expect your bridge to last for at least a decade.
