Invisalign is a popular alternative to fixed braces for straightening adults’ teeth. At Bow House dental practice in Hertfordshire we have treated many happy patients with this discreet teeth straightening method. In fact, to date Invisalign has straightened more than three million sets of teeth across the world.
Unlike some systems of cosmetic braces that are available, Invisalign does not just focus on the front six teeth, and can be used for the correction of more extensive orthodontic problems. To find out if this is the best treatment for you, you should join us at Bow House in Hertfordshire for a teeth straightening consultation with a cosmetic dentist.
During your initial consultation, your Hertfordshire dentist will check that Invisalign is the most suitable treatment for you, carrying out a thorough clinical examination. Photographs, impressions, and measurements of your teeth will be taken as required to assist with treatment planning.
Invisalign is supported by highly advanced 3D computer software called ClinCheck, which enables your dentist to show you the results you can expect from treatment, along with the stages of movement your teeth will go through along the way. That way, you know exactly what to look forward to, with no unwanted surprises.
How treatment works
Treatment with Invisalign involves the use of a series of clear, removable aligners, which gently guide your teeth into a new position. The number of aligners needed will depend on the type and amount of correction you require, and will be discussed by your Hertfordshire dentist during your initial consultation.
These aligners are pretty much invisible to the untrained eye. They are made out of durable clear plastic and fit so snugly over your teeth that nobody will notice them in daily life. As well as being much subtler than fixed braces, they are also better for dental hygiene during treatment.
Whilst you will need to visit your hygienist to learn how to clean around braces, with Invisalign you just take them out to clean them and to brush your teeth as normal.
At the end of treatment you will need to wear a retainer. Your Hertfordshire dentist will advise you of the best retention option.
