Dental implants are a thoroughly modern method of tooth replacement. Bow House dental practice in Hertfordshire offers treatment with implants to replace one, some, or all of your missing or failing natural teeth. Implants give you back so much more than just a beautiful smile – they restore the full functionality of a jaw of healthy teeth, and can seriously improve your confidence in social situations.

Hertfordshire dental implants

dental-implants-HertfordshireIn essence, dental implants are bionic tooth roots. Made from titanium, which is used because of its high degree of compatibility with the human body and because it actively supports bone growth, implants are placed in your jaw in a minor operation carried out at our Hertfordshire dental practice. They will mesh firmly with the jaw bone over the next couple of months, providing anchorage for your new teeth that is akin to that of a natural tooth root.

Many patients at our Hertfordshire clinic only require local anaesthetic for the placement of dental implants. However, Bow House also welcomes patients who are anxious, nervous, or phobic about visiting the dentist. We offer treatment under either inhalation sedation (gas and air) or intravenous sedation, which is delivered by a small needle in your hand or arm.

Whilst inhalation sedation wears off soon after treatment is complete, with IV sedation you will need to bring a friend or family member to your appointment, because you won’t be able to drive home. With both sedation opens, you will be highly relaxed, will feel no pain, and will remember nothing about treatment afterwards – you will simply find your dental implants in place.

A healing period of a few months is usually required before your dentist attached your permanent new teeth. At our Hertfordshire we can place a single implant with a crown, or a number of implants and either an implant-retained bridge or fixed denture.

Whichever option you choose, you will soon be enjoying all the benefits of dental implants: being able to eat whatever you like, including the occasional treat, being able to speak clearly and confidently, and with no danger of your teeth escaping.
